of Canadian Women Composers
The Canadian National Conservatory of Music was founded in February 2002. Its founding members were inspired to produce programs of study serving the needs of Canadian music teachers and their students.
Traditional teaching approaches are being blended with newly developed ideas to offer holistic pedagogical tools, which will raise the level of musical standards throughout Canada.
CNCM members bring a vast wealth of experience, ethics and skill to the programs they have developed and continue to develop. They are highly recognized in their fields as composers, editors, examiners, workshop clinicians, adjudicators and concert artists.
The CNCM mandate is to
support and nurture the composition, study and performance of Canadian
music.
Clifford Ford Publications
Clifford Ford Publications was established in response to the need to keep Canadian heritage music available to performers and teachers as well as to the general public. Clifford Ford has been active for over 25 years as composer, arranger, editor, engraver, and publisher. For 21 years as Executive Secretary of the Canadian Musical Heritage Society he was responsible for the general management of the Society. Clifford Ford Publications was established in response to the need to keep our heritage music available to performers and teachers as well as to the general public.

Fairbank Music Publishing is a publisher of new Canadian choral works as well as solo music for piano, pipe organ and voice. Printed publications are available by mail or through various retail outlets across the country. F.M.P. publie la musique chorale ainsi que des oeuvres pour piano, orgue et chant. FMP is operated by Nicholas Fairbank. He also manages CMPC (Canadian Music Publishers Collective) which is a web-based collective of small music publishers who sell original printed music by Canadian composers.
Furore Verlag was founded in 1986 by Renate Matthei who thought "It can’t really be true that only men can compose music". Furore was the first publishing house to concentrate on printing music by and books about women composers, and has become a leader in this field.
Hildegard Publishing Company
Named to pay homage to Hildegard von Bingen, a 12th century woman composer, Hildegard Publishing Company celebrated its tenth anniversary, and Hildegard's 900th birthday in 1998.
Founded in 1988 by Sylvia Glickman, the company is renown for promoting women composers of the past and present.
Their catalog contains music for piano, harpsichord, harp and organ, vocal and choral music, string, woodwind and brass chamber music, and orchestral music.
Ilio Volante- composer
Specializing in Marching, Symphonic, and Big Band as well as Symphonic Orchestra and much more, Mr. Volante writes in a modern style which is much appreciated by his audiences. He has composed more than 200 compositions and has a predisposition to jazz. He studied saxophone and has performed as well. His website is mainly in Italian but his biography is available in English (click on the flag at the bottom of the bio page).Some pieces can be downloaded as mp3's from the website.
International Alliance for Women in Music
IAWM hosts a website as well as a newsgroup. The website can be reached at www.iawm.org. It has many links of interest especially to women composers and to people who support the efforts of women in music.

Manitoba Choral Association Inc.
